92. The Fermi at Talia's Tuscan Table

The "true hero sandwiches" at this woefully underrated Boca neighborhood counter-service joint are the stars of the show. While sandwiches like the Michelangelo (herb chicken with eggplant, mozzarella, and roasted peppers) and Pavarotti (prosciutto, mozzarella, arugula, sun dried tomatoes, and basil pesto) get the limelight, the only all-veggie hero on Talia's menu is testament to chef Andrew Bernardo's talent with the medium.

Where most restaurant vegetarian sandwiches are a throwaway -- limp

portobello on a soggy bun seems to be a standard -- the Fermi stands on its own.

The menu mentions portobello, roasted peppers, Tuscan beans, and

lettuce, but don't be surprised if the finished product also shows up with an

assortment of added goodies: a sliver of breaded eggplant, marinated

broccoli, tomato, button mushrooms, and/or a slice of Talia's homemade

mozzarella. Piled high on a slab of house-made Ciabatta the size of a

tablet, you'll likely have leftovers for a "round two."
