Want to take a stab at possible food poisoning at home? Then why not learn how to make fresh sushi?

Lincoln Road restaurant SushiSamba dromo has brought back its monthly Sushi & Sake 101 classes, taught with the help of executive sushi chef Shoyo Lida. According to the press release, "Students can gain insider sushi-making tips with Sushi Chef Lida’s history lesson on sushi and an in-depth instruction on the selecting and cutting of raw fish." Raw? Cutting? Instruction? Sounds awesome! And yes, it's hands on.

But sushi isn't the only thing you'll learn. The class will also introduce you to the restaurant's new sake sommelier Midori Roth. SushiSamba boasts South Florida's largest sake menu, with nearly 50 bottles. Roth will lead students through the history and tradition of rice wine and introduce the varieties and how to pair them with meals.

Classes are scheduled the second Wednesday of every month, at 7 and 9 p.m. The two-hour class costs $75 (without tax or gratuity). Upcoming dates are August 13, September 10, October 8 and November 12.

To reserve a space, call 305-673-5337 or vist sushisamba.com.
