Sonic Beach opens today in Beach Place, bringing new life to the somewhat tired outdoor dining and shopping center on Fort Lauderdale's A1A.
The restaurant/entertainment complex will take up almost 6,000 sq. feet of space on the second floor of Beach Place and although that means no drive-through service will be available, there will be wait staff on roller skates (so just pretend that you're in a pink 1957 Cadillac convertible).
Customers will be able to play with a selection of iPads filled
with apps and games while they wait for their food. Alternately, they
can enjoy the ocean views from the massive deck overlooking the
Atlantic.
Sonic Beach will feature the traditional Sonic menu of
burgers, dogs, slushies, limeades, and some new additions, like pulled
pork sandwiches. In addition, Sonic Beach will serve an extensive beer
and wine menu, including 28 different kinds of beers.
Sonic Beach
will officially open today, 11/11/11 at 5 p.m. with free beer for
everyone from 5 - 8 p.m. Sonic Beach will open daily from 10 a.m. - 3
a.m.
