No. 39: Yakitori from Heart Rock Sushi

The streets near Shinjuku Station in Tokyo are famous for their yakitori stands --

little walk-up counters churning out skewered meat by the truckload.

Those yakitori spears roast over coals, smeared with sweet

sauces, and made of everything from chicken heart to shittake

mushrooms. At Heart Rock Sushi in Fort Lauderdale, the spirit of that

yakitori row is alive and well. The yakitori range from a buck to $8,

that for a whole squid done skewer style. The most exotic you'll get is

chicken liver, but still, the price and the portion makes for easy

ordering at the bar top. And with a beer to go with, you'll feel just

like one of those Japanese businessmen, filtering in for a nibble and a

brew before their train ride home.
