No. 90: Skirt Steak Executive Lunch from Beefeater Steakhouse
In the grassy mountains of Argentina,
cattle rustlers feast on supersized lunches of beef and starch to
provide the primo energy they need to corral cows all day. Here in
the mist-covered office towers of South Florida, bold executives look
toward low-carb wraps and health-conscious salads to keep them alert
and attentive as they manage the work force from above. Now, we're not making any value judgements or anything, but one of these methods is complete bull crap. A real meaty lunch that will keep you going through the day comes courtesy of Hollywood's Beefeater Steakhouse, an Argentine temple to the wonders of beef. Its executive lunch special skirt steak is a hunk of tender grilled meat, fatty and unctuous, dripping with juices, char, and blood. For less than seven bucks, it comes with a simple iceberg salad, a basket of fresh bread with butter, and a side of homemade pasta napped in roasted red pepper sauce (and the requisite amount of slowly encroaching meat juices, natch). Best method for consumption: Slather everything with Beefeater's super-garlicky chimichurri and go to town. If you eat the whole damned thing, you may be able to jump over the buildings on Hollywood Boulevard; that or take a helluva long nap.
