Week after week, you'd thumb through the pages, ripping out photos of
cute musicians to paste into your binders. And sometimes -- if you were
feeling really brave -- you'd send a fan letter or two or three to your
heartthrob, hoping for some sort of reply. Well, here on the County
Grind, we've decided to bring that teenaged tradition back.
Last time we sent out a lady boner letter, it was to one of our favorite '90s frontmen, Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum. And although he certainly makes our heart skip a beat, we've got another alternative-rock heartthrob making his way to South Florida on May 5. It's none other than Bush's stunning lead singer and guitarist, Gavin Rossdale.
Oh sweet, sweet, sweet Mr. Rossdale. How we have pined for your devilishly handsome looks since the days of "Glycerine" and "Comedown." We'd gaze at you adoringly as you strutted around the stage, belting out the lyrics to "Machinehead" with that raspy, British accent of yours. Remember that Rolling Stone cover where you were shirtless lying on the bed? It was framed on our wall for quite some time. We (not so) secretly wish we were lying next to you in those white sheets.
And even though you made a sort of crappy solo album, we still love you. We're just going to pretend like that never happened. Just like we want to forget how in love you are with Gwen Stefani. But, even though we want you all to ourselves, we can admit that you two are the cutest couple in the music industry.
Despite Nigel and Dave quitting the band, we're just glad to see you're back out on tour with Bush. But, we have one complaint... we can't believe Bush is opening for Nickleback. It should be the other way around.
Here and Now Tour. With Nickelback with Bush, Seether, and My Darkest Days. Saturday, May 5, at BankAtlantic Center, 1 Panther Parkway, Sunrise. The show starts at 6 p.m. and tickets cost $17.50 to $86.75 plus fees via ticketmaster.com. Call 954-835-7825, or visit bankatlanticcenter.com.
