The best Hasidic Jewish reggae artist is teaming up with quite possibly the best bass player of the last 20 years to give Pompano Beach a unique night of music. Matisyahu, aka Matthew Miller, could easily be written off as a novelty before you hear his music. Reggae has always had deep spiritual and religious roots, most often associated with Rastafarianism, so Matisyahu's blending of traditional Jewish teachings isn't far off. Seeing him on stage is off-putting at first, but once the basslines start kicking and Mr. Miller starts beatboxing, any novelty factor goes by the wayside and real musical talent shines through.
Add Les Claypool, former
bassist for Primus, to the bill, and you've got the makings of one of
the most unique shows the Pompano Beach Amphitheatre will host this
summer. Tickets go on sale April 17th through Live Nation.
