Just when those of us in Miami were beginning to despair at the thought of driving to Broward (or even West Palm!) for every decent indie rock show that came through South Florida, this morning opened a serious freaking ray of sunshine. After the still-lamented loss of Studio A a couple years back, the only venue within the county line that seemed suitable for mid-size acts was the then-newly opened Fillmore Miami Beach. via 230 Publicity Of Montreal returns to South Florida!
In its relatively short existence in its current guise, the venue has brought down some pretty decent shows of all genres, but many of the recent shows announced for it haven't been that, uh, hip (telenovela stars, Pat Metheny). All that changed with one fell swoop this morning, when Live Nation, who operates the venue, announced four upcoming shows that should seriously excite the Apple-consuming demographic. (Oh, shit, I'm typing this on a MacBook Pro.). All tickets go on sale through livenation.com and physical outlets at the venues (but who does that).
