You may have heard that we are giving away a pair of Langerado Music Festival 2011 tickets. To allow busy local music fans to get their entries together, we've extended the deadline until Friday, August 5, at noon. This will allow you an additional week to brainstorm and film a clip that is impressive enough to warrant two weekend passes that would cost you a total of $300 otherwise.
As proof that this is not a difficult process, I filmed a sample entry this morning while eating my cereal. For the sake of everyone involved, I chose one of the shortest songs on hand, Death Cab for Cutie's kinda weepy "Steadier Footing," from 2001's The Photo Album.
This literally took as long as it would take a person to find a terry cloth hat in the closet, look online for a lyrics website to read, and press play on my camera phone for 1 minute and 50 seconds. This video has its issues -- the video is sideways, the audio and video are synched horribly, I'm drinking out of my cereal bowl instead of paying attention to the task at hand -- but it got done. Much like Stephen Colbert's presidential run, I don't deserve to win, and I won't win, but I show how easy it can be to get in the running.
Here goes literally nothing:
To be eligible: Film a video of yourself
performing your favorite song by a Langerado artist (all of them are listed here), upload it to YouTube or another video streaming site, and post the link to our
County Grind Facebook page by noon ET on Friday, August 5.
At
that time, we will review all of the entries and choose the one that is
the most entertaining and creative. So, if you can't sing, you better
make it look impressive. We will announce the winning entry later in the
day on Friday, August 5.
