Locos Por Juana, considered by many to be Miami's best Latin band, makes their way to La La Land today for a string of performances surrounding the 51st Annual Grammy Awards.  Whether their getting the crowd going at one of the city's many festivals or barring the entrance to Jazid as their members spill into the cocktail area mingling with the crowd mid-performance, the 305-based group is best known for their relentless gigging schedule and high-energy shows.

Comprised of "Itagüí", "Lakambra", "El Chamo", "Che Funk", Alan Reyna and Marc Kondrat, LPJ's origins and influences are as diverse as their names imply, spanning Latin America, from Colombia to Venezuela to Argentina.  And their fevered fusions of cumbia, salsa, hip-hop, reggae, ska, rock and Afro-Cuban are testament to it.  Their distinct sound garnered them a Latin Grammy nod with their 2005 sophomore release, Musica Pa'l Pueblo, and now they add to their resume a nomination in this Sunday's Grammys for "Best Latin Rock or Alternative" for their third album, La Verdad, which released in June of 2008.

If you happen to be out in Los Angeles for the awards, or are just an L. Alien checking in with your favorite music blog here at Crossfade, be sure to catch Locos Por Juana at The Conga Room tonight, the Apple Store on Tuesday the 10th or Zanzibar on Thursday the 12th.
