Dive into 2015 at New Year's Day Polar Bear Plunge at Fort Lauderdale Beach

A very chilly tradition will be making its stop at a not so chilly place at 10:30 a.m. this New Year's Day, 2015. For those who wanna take a wintertime dip in unusually warmer waters than is typical for an event like this, Beauty and the Feast Bar|Kitchen, located in the Atlantic Hotel and Spa, is hosting a Polar Bear Plunge. For those unaware, this is an annual ritual that involves running into the freezing cold, winter waters of the ocean.

Attendees are invited to literally plunge into the New Year. They'll meet at Lifeguard Tower 11 on Fort Lauderdale Beach in front of the hotel, and then they will then jump into the ocean.

But there's more than just taking a brief bath with strangers in Fort Laudy's waters to this affair.

That's right. There's also food. Beauty & the Feast will have a pre-fixe brunch menu until 2:30 p.m. for $29.50 which guests can enjoy after drying off and changing in a private area at the hotel.

Mouth watering menu items include bananas foster, French toast, lobster omelets with boursin cheese, sage sausage links, eggs with pecan wood smoked bacon, classic eggs Benedict, and more. We can hear your stomach growling from over here.

Although walk-ins are welcome, those who register online will receive free New Year's 2015 Polar Bear Plunge favors and refreshments. In other words, those who plan ahead will gladly reap the rewards of thinking ahead.

Come straight from the party from the night before or arrive refreshed from a healing NYE sleep. You can wear a bathing suit or even don a polar bear suit if you so desire. Just show up and be ready to work off some calories before packing in a seriously substantial brunch.

Polar Bear Plunge. 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 1, at Beauty and the Feast Bar|Kitchen at the Atlantic Hotel and Spa, 601 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard. Visit society8.com, or call 954-567-8070. There is no cover to take the plunge at this event.
