Tonight, friends from all walks of life will gather at Flaunt, the long standing Respectable Street indie dance party in West Palm Beach, to commemorate the life and music of the late Ray Pachter.
Montage, the band he lovingly crafted with his brother Ben, will be performing along with Alarmists to pay him tribute once again, the only way they know how, through cheap drinks and some serious tunes. We caught up with Ben to find out more and discover what the band has been up to.

New Times: What made you decide to play this show at Respectable Street's Flaunt party?
Ben Pachter: We played Flaunt last year on the same date for the same reason, and it was a disaster/nightmare due to inter-band arguments and our now ex-drummer being wasted on Mad Dog and Sake. At the same time, it was a fitting tribute to my late brother as the show was essentially the definition of punk rock. The people who run the Flaunt night are all friends of ours and run shows properly with a great atmosphere. My brother would have enjoyed the venue as a whole, as it is a proper rock and roll place conducive to love, great music, and good times.
Why did you choose Alarmists to play this show with you?
The leader of the band, Jesse Meyer (from Slapstick Remedy, among other bands like Fevers) was in the same original Pompano Indoor Skatepark scene that we also belonged to in the early '00s, and was good friends with Ray and I. We also played in a one off Clash cover band.
Tell us some more about your brother. How did he contribute to the music you make today?
My brother was born on June 13, 1989, and died on Feb. 21, 2010. He was most proficient at the drums, bass, guitar, harmonica, and piano, though he could play other instruments. His first two bands were EXPO and then Third Nostril. We formed Decasyntax shortly after, which then became Montage. He co-founded the band, and our weird musical vision of '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s power pop-type rock and roll has lead the band for most of its existence. We still play two of his songs at every gig.
What is Montage up to right now? Any new music in the works?
We're working on an album that will probably be out by April or May, and then a tour. Specifically, our next release is a split cassette with the noise band Crowhurst from L.A. After that, another album will be recorded.
