Vinyl hounds will be hard-pressed to pass up the limited edition version of Surfer Blood's Tarot Classics EP, which will finally meet the public in a wild duel of rock and emotion on October 25.
Just put up for pre-order at Insound, the package includes the EP's four brand-new songs, and a wealth of extras. And only you and 1,999 other people are gonna be able to partake in the magic. Insound informs us that this is a 12" blue vinyl release, but is mum on the particular shade.
In addition to "I'm Not Ready," "Drinking Problem," "Miranda," and "Voyager Reprise," the deluxe limited special expanded edition of the EP includes remixes by Allen Blickle of Baroness, School Of Seven Bells, Connor and Peggy (The Drums, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart), and Ryan (Speculator).
But wait, there's more! The collection also includes a Surfer Blood poster and a live DVD with footage from a show they played in Brooklyn. And a bag of Rap Snacks (not really).
Singer J.P. Pitts recently discussed the EP, the upcoming Pixies tour, and the second album with our company cousin Seattle Weekly. And this is what he had to say about "Drinking Problem."

That's a good question. I think they all turned out really good. I'm
really proud of the song "Drinking Problem," that's the last song on the
EP. There's only one acoustic guitar in the entire song, and usually
when people think of Surfer Blood they think of guitar-driven rock band.
So it's a nice deviation from that for me. It uses samples, it uses
synth and a drum machine and kind of takes our sound in an entirely new
direction. But every time I show it to people they still say it's
completely recognizably us. So I think it's a good taste of things to
come for the next record. We're going to be in a real studio, which is
something we've never done before, and we're going to have a lot of
options before us, and it's good to know that we can take advantage of
that.
