Tom Cruise's Rock of Ages filming has moved away from Fort Lauderdale, and into Miami-Dade. Before the big event next Monday at Sun Life Stadium (find out how to be in the movie here), Crossfade's Marta Xochilt Perez has an excellent set of photographs up showing Miami doing its best imitation of the Sunset Strip, and no details were spared.
Aside from gas prices being posted in the $1.17 range, the buildings and billboards are clearly from an entirely different era.
View the photographs here, and don't worry, the Vagabond and Johnny's Miami will remain open while filming takes place down the street. The fate of Eve during mid-July, on the other hand, is unclear.
Over at director Adam Shankman's Twitter, there are a few more telling photographs that indicate just what Rock of Ages is actually going to look like. First, we offer up Skid Row's Sebastian Bach and Extreme's Nuno Bettencourt taking part in a protest outside the Bourbon Room that would probably make the Westboro Baptist Church very proud. Are they a little too happy to be burning in hell?
Next, we offer up Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays the Los Angeles mayor's wife in Rock of Ages and has transformed into a buttoned-up opponent of the devil's music. She seems to be created in the spirit of Al Gore's wife, Tipper, who formed the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) to combat explicit material in popular music and released a "filthy fifteen" that singles out songs by Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, AC/DC, and, uh, Cyndi Lauper. Zeta-Jones' character seems to have her own group -- we'll take a little creative leap here -- called Ladies Organization to Stop Evil Rock Singers (LOSERS). Clever!
Finally, Tom Cruise appeared on Ryan Seacrest's radio show and admits to doing a little pole dancing for his role as rocker Stacee Jaxx. Hear the interview below:
