For going on two decades now DJ/producer Vincenzo Ragone has been a staple of the international underground EDM community and one of its most endearing artists. With roots in Hamburg's early hip hop scene, he got taken by the acid house explosion of the late '80s and released his first house records on the Raw Elements imprint while garnering early praise as a DJ after Steve Bug enlisted him as a resident at his legendary "Reduced" Hamburg club night. Vincenzo would later spend some time in NYC, pairing up with esteemed techno producer Alexi Delano for a series of collaborative works, and in 1998 he released his debut solo album 1-800 Vincenzo on Bug's Dessous label, establishing himself as one of Germany's finest EDM exports.
The 2000s saw the prolific and nomadic producer travel and collaborate with a variety of international artists from San Francisco to the UK, including Elmar Schubert, Schmoov! and Lovebirds, while releasing numerous originals, remixes and compilation mixes on top labels like Dessous, Poker Flat, Winding Road, and Liebe*Detail. With a seamless eclecticism running the gamut between electronica, disco-house, and the deeper end of Berlin techno, Vincenzo's sound is in a class all its own. After headlining Sunday School for Degenerates last week, the acclaimed DJ/producer is back to rock our socks off one more time at the Electric Pickle tonight, where he'll be joined on decks by resident Will Renuart and PL0T's Basti.
The admission price for this party is only $10 and the first hundred people to arrive will receive a free copy of In The Red, the latest album by Manchester disco-house luminary Trus'me.
Vincenzo at the Electric Pickle. Friday, April 2, 10 p.m.-5 a.m. 2826 N. Miami Ave., Miami.
