Well, it's absolutely terrible that saxophonist Clarence Clemons is dealing with the aftermath of a serious stroke right now. Update: R.I.P. Clarence Clemons (1942-2011)
Both his bandmate Bruce Springsteen and recent collaborator Lady Gaga have been vocal supporters during this delicate time. An enormous reason for Gaga's support is the South Florida resident's signature sax line that figures so heavily into "Edge of Glory," which now has an accompanying video.
In the clip, which premiered last night on So You Think You Can Dance, Gaga spends a good lot of time prancing and gyrating on the fire escape of a burning building. Clemons, the only other person in the video, is content to play it cool at the top of the stoop. Obviously filmed before his recent health troubles, Clemons here helps give the visual a throwback vibe to mid-'80s when music videos had lots more "dancing in the street."
Some folks have already complained about the pared down approach of this video, and it seems like there was a far-fancier plan in the works. Honestly, this one is just about the song, and since it ("You and I" at the time) was the highlight of Gaga's tour stop in South Florida earlier this year, no complaints from here.
