The folks at the Verve Music Group are trying to make sure that the great jazz vocalists of yesteryear are never forgotten. So for the last six years, they've been creating a stellar remix series where they select some of the world's most respected DJ's and crate diggers, give them access to old master copies of jazz tunes, and let them rework classic songs in a real hip way.

Over the years, the reputation of the Verve Remixed series has grown a lot. Everyone from Kenny Dope to Carl Craig and Danger Mouse have been invited to get in on the fun and the remixes that are cranked out each time are all pure niceness. Like honey on a sore throat or cold lemonade on a hot summer day.

They've just released Verve Remixed Vol. 4 and I can tell you it's a real smooth album this time around. It's got some beautiful production on it with songs by Sarah Vaughn, Astrud Gilberto, Nina Simone, and Billie Holiday (to name a few) being remixed by Diplo, 9th Wonder, Karriem Riggins, and many others.

And the New Times has one piece of vinyl (that's a record, son) ready to give away from the new series. But you've got to answer a question correctly to get it.

What current hip-hop star does Karriem Riggins play drums for live?

The first person who can correctly answer this question, send me an email here with your full name and phone number where you can be reached and we'll get you this album. Simple as that.
