When planning County Grind Live, we thought, there's no way we can have a musical showcase here in Fort Lauderdale without Radio-Active Records being involved. So we were thrilled when owner Mikey Ramirez agreed to be one of, and bring, the DJs. Backing him up tomorrow is Mitzie Velez, whom you might remember from Revenge at Roxanne's, where she spun with Ramirez and Richard Vergez of Mothersky. She also cohosted and DJ'd at the Poorhouse night ADD Adapter. Nowadays, she comes out to play music only on special occasions, such as ours tomorrow, or the random night at Laser Wolf. She's currently focusing on her career as a hairstylist at Sean Donaldson Hair on South Beach.
We wanted to give you an idea of what kind of music she'd be spinning tomorrow. "I have pretty eclectic tastes, being a vinyl collector and ex-record store clerk," she notes. "But for tomorrow night, I'm pretty much going to try to stick to a set of garage, psych, glam rock, and classic punk." Adding, "Seems fitting for a Jacuzzi Boys show." Sure does. Listen to a few songs she'll be playing for y'all tomorrow night at Green Room.
