5. Thursday Sound Series Featuring Lather Up and Alligator Wine

8 p.m. Thursday, January 29, at Stache, 109 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale. No cover. Visit Facebook.

Stache will be opening its doors to some funk on Thursday night to start the weekend out right. Lather Up, a jazzy trio hailing from the Heavy Pets, will be jamming with the bluesy Alligator Wine, featuring Nico from the Funky Nuggets. As for drinks, we can't promise any alligator-themed booze, but there will be $5 old-fashioneds and beers. There's no cover, so enjoy the music and funny animal monikers for free.

4. January Art Walk with Gears & Gals

6 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at C&I Studios, 541 NW First Ave., Fort Lauderdale. No cover. Visit Facebook.

C&I Studios' monthly art walk is spicing things up with good-looking cars and even better-looking ladies. Guests will think they've been transported to the 1950s with the revving engines of vintage cars and pinup gals strutting their stuff.

Featuring models from Montce Swim & Face2Face Studios, it's safe to say that the first art walk of 2015 is going to be sexy. Don't forget to stuff your face thanks to the various food trucks outside -- you may not look like the girls after you chow, but hey, at least your tummy'll be happy.

3. Bonnie Riot Backbone Release Party (1 of 3)

6 p.m. Thursday, January 29, at Radio-Active Records, 845 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. No cover. Visit Facebook.

It'll be an indie-themed night at Radio-Active Records this Thursday thanks to Bonnie Riot and Sur Back. The cause for celebration is Bonnie Riot's release of the album Backbone. The party continues on Friday night at Gramps in Miami and Propaganda in Lake Worth on Saturday. In addition, there will also be enough free pizza to feed Jennifer Lawrence and guests.

2. False Flags EP Release Party

10 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at Respectable St., 518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach. No cover. Visit Facebook.

Alternative band False Flags has some sad news. After four years in the music scene, this Saturday will be its final performance. Guests who attend Respectable Street, AKA the band's favorite venue, will receive download cards for its two EPs being released online: A Sense of Urgency and Sunday Night Terrors. Boxwood will be a guest performer at this bittersweet event.

1. The Nature of Things

7 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at 1310 Gallery, 1310 SW Second Court, Fort Lauderdale. No cover. Visit Facebook.

Instead of one artist being the focal point of the art opening at 1310, there will be four artists showcasing their talents. Israel Isi Ghelman will be showing stone sculptures, Sylvain Denis will provide photography, drawings will be by NikoYulis, and there will be paintings by Barry Gross. Check out this show for a breath of fresh South Florida talent.
