After Charlie Crist annihilated Marco Rubio in the most recent round of fundraising for the U.S. Senate campaign, the boyish former House Speaker needs a game-changer. You know, someone who can bolster his maverick persona. Maybe someone who, like Rubio, gives Republicans hope that there's a younger, more attractive generation of GOP who are bold enough to upset the old guard.

Enter Sarah Palin. The recently announced ex-governor of Alaska may be toxic to Democrats, but she's still winning hearts on the Republican Party's right wing, which Rubio must mobilize if he's to stand a chance against Crist, who raised $4.3 million last quarter to Rubio's $340,000.

The National Review named Rubio's race in a list of those in which Palin could "make a mark." The two have almost identical political positions, and championing Rubio would be a characteristically maverick-y move by Palin. From the article:

But Rubio's less-than-impressive fundraising and weak poll numbers suggest he faces a steep uphill battle. Does Palin risk her "brand" if he crashes and burns?
Bah! Her brand is as low as it will ever get. No matter what Palin does, she'll have defenders among the Limbaugh and Coulter set. Just check out Ann Coulter's most recent column:
The peculiarly venomous hatred of Palin is driven by women of the left and their whipped consorts. All that needs to happen is for a feminist to overhear two Nation readers saying, "I hate to admit it, but Palin is kind of hot" and...

WHAT??????????? YOU CALL THAT HOT? I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW WE'VE GOT A MEGA-SUPER HOTTIE IN DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ. AND NEED I REMIND YOU AGAIN OF THE RAW SEX APPEAL OF RACHEL MADDOW?
Which begs a question for our West Broward congresswoman. What's more painful? Breaking your leg and spraining your ankle at the same time? Or hearing Ann Coulter call you a "mega-super hottie"?
