Oscar Wolford couldn't find work, so according to the Broward Sheriff's Office, he tried his hand at fraud. The 32-year-old Pompano Beach man was arrested at a Deerfield Beach hotel Monday after deputies got a tip that Wolford used false I.D.s to open bank accounts with bad checks, then withdrawing funds before the checks bounced.

While at the hotel, deputies met with suspect Oscar Wolford, who was in possession of numerous fraudulent ID's, passports, debit cards and checkbooks.Wolford allegedly told deputies that he was frustrated by his efforts find a job and blamed the economy for embarking on a short-lived career in crime.
BSO Economic Crime detectives said he created the two passports, Florida driver licenses, Brazilian identification cards and other items by using fictitious names and then opened fraudulent bank accounts with nine local banks. Wolford deposited a counterfeit $30,000 check into one of the accounts and attempted to withdraw the funds on September 14.
During questioning, Wolford said he defrauded the banks of at least $4,000 over the last two months.
