Darrius Johnson attacked his girlfriend, Monica Gooden, from behind, slamming an X-Box 360 console across her head. He then stabbed her multiple times all over her body.

When interviewed by police about the gruesome murder, Johnson told investigators he felt like a new man after killing his girlfriend, who, he says, had taken control of his spirit, so he had to kill her as a sacrifice.

Johnson told police he felt like he was "fighting a dragon" when he murdered her.

According to a Lauderhill Police complaint affidavit, Johnson, 22, confessed to killing Gooden, who had apparently been fighting with him about him wanting a relative to live with them.

Johnson told the police he "had to sacrifice" someone with a Taurus astrological sign, and that he initially wanted to sacrifice his grandfather. But the old man had medical issues.

The circumstances that led police to find Gooden's body were also strange.

Police interviewed Johnson at a local hospital where he was recovering from a knife attack he sustained in a separate incident.

According to police, Johnson allegedly broke into a home not far from his own by jumping into the patio of the homeowner's property. Johnson confronted the woman who lived in this home and allegedly began beating her.

The woman, yelling out in panic, stabbed Johnson in self-defense with a kitchen knife as her nephew called police.

In interviews with investigators at the hospital, Johnson confessed and detailed the grisly and bizarre circumstances that led him to brutally murder his girlfriend.

He told detectives that they would find her at the home located on NW 22 street and 55th avenue.

When police arrived at the home, they found Gooden's body.

She had been stabbed multiple times in the back, chin, neck, and stomach, a bloodied and battered X-Box console strewn on the ground near her lifeless corpse.

Johnson has been charged with premeditated murder, as well as with burglary with assault or battery. He was booked at the Broward County Jail, where he's being held without bond.
