If you haven't already seen this, Panther defenseman Keith Ballard was frustrated after the team let in what would prove to be the game-winning goal. He went to break his stick over the goal. Instead, he swiped his teammate, Tomas Vokoun's, ear. Then blood, writhing, Vokoun carried off on a stretcher, a trip to the hospital.

It seems this morning everyone is fine. Ballard will speak to the media later this afternoon. Still, what must he have been thinking as he watched his goalie carried off the ice?

Accidental violence against a teammate. Is this the most bizarre hockey moment of all time? Certainly the Richard Zednick's accidental throat slash (also in a Panthers game) is in the running. And maybe even this moment--also from a Panthers game--from earlier this year.

Who would have guessed hockey in South Florida would lead to such strange things? Oh yeah, everyone.
