South Florida journalism is taking a hit. Palm Beach Post crime reporter Stephanie Slater, who has also served as president of the Florida Press Club, is going to the other side.
She's taken a job as public information officer for the Boynton Beach Police Department. Her last day at the Post is April 20.
I don't know, I usually feel a bit betrayed when a good journalist like Slater goes on to flackdom, but in this case she's clearly following her heart. Anybody that reads her can tell the passion she brings to covering what the cops are doing -- now she's getting the chance to do it unfettered.
But the Pulp is going to miss her byline.
