[CORRECTED] Bicyclist Badly Hurt in Lauderdale Traffic Accident

A bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries this morning in an accident that occurred on West Davie Boulevard. A Fort Lauderdale Police news release says that a Toyota Scion involved in the accident was driven by Taisha Gonzalez from Coconut Creek.

According to police, Gonzalez was driving north on SW 27th Avenue, turning right to go east on West Davie Boulevard.

The victim was crossing West Davie Boulevard in a north bound direction just east of the Southwest 27 Avenue and West Davie Boulevard intersection when the accident occurred.

CORRECTION: Based on the police news-release reference to this incident as a "traffic homicide," a previous version of this post referred to the incident as a hit-and-run. It was not. We regret the error.
