According to southfloridagaynews.com, New Times freelancers Penn Bullock and his partner, Brandon K. Thorp, were named one (or two) of Out magazine's "Out 100."
The couple was flown up to New York for a film shoot at the Pierre a month and a half ago. Apparently the list was kept hush-hush so even they didn't know who was going to make the top 100.
"Out 100" is in its 16th year and has previously featured celebrities like Adam Lambert and Cyndi Lauper.
Bullock and Thorp were named for their work on the breaking news story about Dr. George Rekers, a Christian leader who reportedly hired a young, male escort as his travel companion.
Bullock also writes for LA Times and our sister paper Miami New Times. Thorp is currently a blogger for the Juice and the resident theater critic for the Broward Palm Beach and Miami New Times papers.
