Jean-Carlo Baptist told police that he was tired and trying to sleep after working a night job, when his 11-week-old daughter wouldn't stop crying. His wife was working at Walgreens at the time.

Baptist had told paramedics that his daughter had fallen out of bed, but after questioning by Boynton Beach Police, Baptist allegedly admitted that he had struck the baby with an open hand, six to eight times on both sides of her face. Baptist has been arrested for felony aggravated child abuse. His daughter was taken to Delray Trauma Center with head injuries and is in serious condition.
