Well, it finally happened. The Sun-Sentinel, WSFL-TV, and the Orlando Sentinel have taken their collective Internet content -- otherwise known as their future -- out of the hands of journalists and given it to marketing chief Jeff Levine.
Here's the announcement, which was sent this morning by Sentinel publisher Howard Greenberg:

Effective immediately, Jeff Levine has been named Vice President of Marketing and Online Content/Florida. Jeff will oversee the online content strategy for SunSentinel.com, southflorida.com and orlandosentinel.com. In this new role, Jeff will be working closely with Sr. Vice Presidents and Editors Earl Maucker and Charlotte Hall, WSFL-TV Station Manager Allyson Meyers and WSFL-TV News Director Sue Kawalerski. Jeff will also collaborate with Florida sales teams for online product development efforts to maximize revenue generation from our sites. Jeff will continue to oversee our marketing strategy and his direct reports in South Florida remain the same.
