A fire at the building that houses the law office of Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober is being investigated by police for possible arson.

According to a Hollywood Fire Department spokesman, Mark Steele, a fire struck in the upper floors of the building at 1930 Tyler St. in Hollywood just before 6 a.m. Saturday. It triggered an alarm about the same time that a passerby phoned the department reporting smoke. "There were flames and smoke showing when units arrived," says Steele.

The fire started on the second floor, toward the rear of the building. Firefighters were able to get control of the blaze quickly. Bober's office on the first floor was damaged by water and smoke. A woman who answered the phone at Bober's office declined to elaborate. Juice hopes to hear back from the mayor today.

A message left with Hollywood Police spokesman Lt. Manny Marino was not immediately returned.
