Remember when Alan Dershowitz was just a defense attorney defending a filthy-rich client from accusations of pedophilia and pimping instead of being accused of such acts himself?
Well, back in 2006, when he was known just as a lawyer doing his job, Dershowitz tried to discredit one of the girls making rape accusations against millionaire Jeffrey Epstein by telling cops she mentions weed on her MySpace profile.
In a letter obtained by The Guardian, Dershowitz wrote to PBSO Detective Joseph Recarey in 2006 to deny that his investigators identified themselves as police when attempting to talk to the accuser, whose name was redacted but listed as "AH." And while he was at it, Dershowitz went on to inform the PBSO of some serious evidence he discovered.
"At our meeting, you may recall, I also advised you that our investigation had discovered at least one of her websites, and I am enclosing some examples," Dershowitz writes, referring to Roberts' MySpace page. "You will note that she, herself, has chosen to go by the name of 'Pimp Juice' and the site goes on to detail, including photos, her apparent fascination with marijuana."
He continues: "This will come as no surprise to you as I'm sure you are already aware of her recent Palm Beach arrest for both possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia."
After dropping those bombshells, the prominent attorney and Harvard law professor continued his grandpa-style finger-wagging by saying that his experienced investigators had to take extra precaution because AH was a drama student, which made her a master in the art of deception.
"Both of [the investigators] have many years experience in conducting defense investigations and debriefing witnesses," Dershowitz wrote, adding: "In this instance, they were instructed to take [the plaintiff's] statement verbatim because we feared that she, an accomplished drama student, might try to mislead them as successfully as she misled others."
The letter goes on to describe a short dialogue between Dershowitz's investigators and AH, who didn't say much to the two men but did tell them to get off her lawn. You can read the whole thing here.
