Waffles. They're delicious, sure, but they're also so versatile. Although most of us just slap some butter and syrup on them and call it breakfast, that geometric battered delight can also be used as a sandwich base, an ice cream cone, or a dessert.

Most of all, they're just delicious. Especially with some bacon. Which is why International House of Pancakes' (IHOP) new creation just smacks of delicious excess.

The breakfastcentric chain is launching its new Bac 'n' Cheddar Waffullicious Waffle, a traditional Belgian waffle with hickory smoked bacon and cheddar cheese baked into the golden disc. And, because there's no such thing as too much bacon, the waffle is topped with more of the crisp flesh.

For those of us with a sweet tooth, IHOP is also launching its Very Blueberry Cheesecake Waffle, made with berries and New York-styled cheesecake pieces baked into the mix, then topped with more cheesecake and blueberries.

Marie Grimm, vice president of culinary and menu at the pancake restaurant, says adding bacon to the waffles was a no-brainer. "We've served waffles topped with many different ingredients when it suddenly occurred to us: Why not put those ingredients inside the waffle so that it would be full of those delicious flavors in every bite?"

Termed "Waffullicious Waffles," the new treats will be available at IHOP from September 8 through November 2, 2014.
