Paint Nite at Funky Buddha Brewery
If you like to drink beer, and you fancy yourself an artist, then Paint Nite at Funky Buddha in Oakland Park is the place for you. Starting at 7 p.m., a master artist walks through the steps to create a "16x20" acrylic masterpiece in about two hours. Paint Nite provides all painting supplies including canvas, easel, paints, brushes, and an apron to help protect clothing. No art experience needed: just show up and have fun. Fort Lauderdale Whole Foods Farmers' Market
Starting today -- from January 6 to January 27 -- buy local produce and artisanal products from South Florida vendors outside Whole Foods Market in Fort Lauderdale. The farmers' market is open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with free admission.
The Old Fashioned at Vintage Tap
Right now, the past is in. The world is obsessed with classic cocktails. Pinterest is fueled by vintage decorating ideas. Fitness freaks are espousing the merits of eating like our distant ancestors with Paleo diets and other all-natural remedies. From rappers with monocles (seriously, such a thing exists) to hipster bartenders with suspenders and ironic mustachios to the whole steampunk trend, the present trend is harkening back to bygone eras. In Delray Beach, one establishment has created an entire concept that recreates the olden days, Vintage Tap. On Tuesday at 9 p.m., it's mixing it's old school vibe with new tunes. In conjunction with JMB records, the bar is hosting a live show with The Old Fashioned. And no, it's not a cocktail thing. The South Florida-based band is a mix of post-punk and emo. Food Truck Invasion Family Night
Family-friendly events can be tough. That is, unless you have a way to please everyone. Well, we have something for you: get the kids, invite some friends, grab the whole gang, and head over to Heritage Park in Plantation for the Food Truck Invasion Family Night.
Every Tuesday night from 5 to 9:30 p.m., Food Truck Invasion takes over the park with plenty of food and family fun. There will be bounce houses and movies playing, as well as a couple dozen trucks. Don Mofongo, Crazydilla, Dolce Gourmet Cupcakes, Jerk It, King of Racks BBQ, La Nostra Pizza, Palate Party, Monster Burgers, Zombie Ice, Food Junkies, Gene's Joint, Granny B'z, Ice Cream Express, The Lobsta Guy, Main Stop Grill, Ipek's Wykked Kitchen, Arepas Las Gorditas Crazy About Chew, Crazydilla, and more will be attending. Blue Point Brewing Happy Hour
Tap 42 in Fort Lauderdale will be hosting a Blue Point Brewing happy hour on Wednesday, from 5-9 p.m. A number of special-release kegs will be tapped, and priced especially for the happy hour crowd.
Thursday
Turtle Power Terrapin Tap Takeover
The Brass Tap in Pembroke Pines will be hosting a Terrapin tap takeover on Thursday, starting at 7 p.m. The beer bar will feature more than half a dozen of the Athens, Georgia-based brewery's beer for this special release event.
Whole Foods Pembroke Pines Farmers' Market
Every Thursday, from 4 pm. to 8 p.m., join Whole Foods Market in Pembroke Pines where more than 40 vendors set up shop at the west end of the parking lot, offering locally grown produce, homemade products and other unique goodies not found at any grocery store. Guests are invited to come out and shop for some of the freshest products in town, while supporting their local vendors/farmers offering items such as: hand crafted jams & jellies; local honey; exotic fruits; hand poured soy candles; plants, trees and fresh herbs; freshly made guacamole, ceviche and salsas; and much more.
