Here's the thing about New Year's resolutions: Hanging a new Twilight calendar on the wall doesn't give one any special powers to quit smoking or stop dropping F-bombs with the kids in the car. But even if you're the sort who'd never vocalize a resolution, there's a good chance that come January, you're making some tweaks to the diet and a concerted effort to think about hitting the gym once in a while.
As such, smart restaurateurs know this is the time of year to roll out lighter fare. Everyone's on a diet, whether they'll admit it or not, and there's only so much of the cleansing dandelion green salads a person can take in any given week. RA Sushi has jumped on the "healthier eating in 2013" bandwagon with a limited time "skinny pairing" menu.
The $18 skinny pairing menu at RA Sushi -- in Palm Beach Gardens and Pembroke Pines -- matches a Hitokuchi sashimi and shrimp plate with one of three low-cal cocktail offerings. The plate is filled with a total of 14 one-bite pieces of tuna, yellowtail, salmon, and shrimp. They're garnished with microgreens for an additional shot of nutrition.
The accompanying cocktails are designed to pack less than 160 calories each. The choices are the colada-teenie (SKYY Coconut and Pineapple, agave nectar, and fruit juice), blueberry fizz (Pama, Stoli Blueberi, muddled blueberries, raspberries, and tart citrus) and skinny cucumberita (Patron Silver, Citronage, agave nectar, muddled cucumber, and lime). The menu will be available through February 28.
