Most people tend to love their own birthdays. And why wouldn't you? For one thing, everyone is supposed to go along with whatever you want. And better still, you get presents.
Whole Foods Pembroke Pines is turning 1 on Thursday. And rather than expecting anything from you, the store is celebrating with three days of events, including free stuff for you.
Best. Birthday. Ever.

Thursday
Starting at 5 p.m., the store is hosting a champagne and cupcake party with live music. Ready, Set, Cupcake is preparing the cupcake, and Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank Ortis is blowing out the candle.
Directly afterward, Local-Paloosa is taking place from 5 to 7 p.m. Whole Foods is featuring an array of local products throughout the store from artisans, cheese-makers, growers, and fishermen. And there's your dinner. For free.
Friday
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Whole Foods is sponsoring Global Street Food Fair. A $10 donation to the Whole Planet Foundation -- OK, not free, but it is for a good cause -- gets you food and drink tickets for tastings of beer, wines, and different skewers; a complimentary pint glass; and raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes. Live music and a social media photo booth will also be on-site.
Saturday
Starting at noon, as part of Health Sprouts Here, healthy-eating specialist Melanie Haraldson is teaching a class for children about the four pillars of healthy eating and creating some treats to celebrate the birthday. Kids can sign the giant birthday card and have their faces painted. That's, like, free lunch and babysitting for the little ones. Registration is required. Call 954-392-5300.
