The Clean Plate Charlie crew are huge fans of Girl Scout Cookies. Those once-a-year colorful boxes of deliciousness make over-indulging in sweets feel like a community service. The Girl Scout's message and mission are so wholesome, it almost seems gauche to match the cookies with a glass of fine craft beer: Almost, but not quite.

In fact, the Girl Scout Cookie/craft beer concept has been explored by such brew fans as The Beer Chicks, who last March penned a "Girl Scout Cookies for Adults" guide that suggested matching Caramel deLites (aka Samoas) with CoCoNut Porter and Tagalongs (aka Peanut Butter Patties) with Banana Bread Beer.

Due South Brewing in Boynton Beach knows a good idea when they taste one. The brewery is hosting two Girl Scout Cookies Nights this coming week that will feature sweet beer pairings.

From 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, pay $4 and get a sampler that includes three beers. Each brew will be matched with a different Girl Scout Cookie. In turn, the brewery will donate $1 from each sampler to a local Brownie troop in support of their programs. If you want to replicate the experience at home, boxes of the cookies will be available for sale at the brewery, and growlers allow you to take beer on the road.

Can't make it out this week? There are a few pairings you can try on your own time.

If you've still got a bottle of the delicious Ken Schmidt/Iron Fist/Stone collaboration Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout hanging around, that's a natural to pair with a sleeve of Thin Mints. Breckenridge's Vanilla Porter would nicely complement the "crispy vanilla cookies" that serve as the base in the Tagalongs or the subtle flavor of a classic Shortbread cookie. A milk stout like Terrapin's excellent and indulgent Moo-Hoo Chocolate Milk Stout will elevate pretty much any cookie that has chocolate on it -- you can't go wrong there.
