It's officially: summer is almost over -- unfortunately, the start of the school year for some has absolutely no effect on the humid weather. Whether you have kids, teach, or just deal with the little ones running around the neighborhood, this is the beginning of the end; the school year is about to start up again. If you're looking to celebrate your return to freedom, enjoy your last days with your kids, or just eat, drink, and be merry, there is something fun to do in South Florida this weekend.

5. Due South Cask Night

Yeah, you love local beer, but sometimes it's just nice to try something different. The Blind Monk is attempting to keep you happy on all fronts with its second Due South cask night on Friday. The bar will be featuring Due South's Old Fashioned version of its Bridgeport Scotch Ale.

4. End of Summer Bash

Summer is the ideal time to hang out near the beach. Unfortunately, for those out west, it's a bit of a drive. Salt Life Food Shack is the next closest thing -- minus the water, of course. To celebrate summer coming to an end, the "shack" is hosting an end of summer party on Friday. Food and drinks will be on special for happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. to close. Live music by local band Box of Rocks will begin at 8:30 p.m.

3. Gourmet Food Truck Expo

Food trucks are great. Lots of food trucks in one place are even better. On Saturday, from 6 to 10 p.m., the Gourmet Food Truck Expo is heading to Margate. More than 25 trucks will be featured with beer and wine available. The event is free to attend.

2. Indopak Fest

If you're even remotely into food, you should at the very least be interested in different types of cuisine from across the world. If that's the case, here's your chance to go buck-wild. India, Pakistan, Trinidad, Guyana, and more will be represented at Indopak Fest this Saturday from 1 to 10 p.m. at Central Broward Regional Park & Stadium. For $10 in advance, $12 at the door the event will feature more than a hundred vendors, Bollywood acts, music and dance, team games, arts and crafts, live comedy, raffles, international cuisines, and more.

1. The Big Taste - The Ultimate Gourmet Ice Cream Social

It's summer, which means you have the perfect excuse to stuff your face with ice cream: diet or not. On Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m., the PGA National Resort and Spa is hosting a massive ice cream social with over 40 different ice creams and live demos. The cost to attend is $20 per adult, $10 for kids 12 and under. PGA National Resort and Spa is located at 400 Avenue of the Champions in Palm Beach Gardens.
