Broward Food System Cooperative Gathering
If you care about locally sourced food and supporting local growers, join Michael Madfis of Fort Lauderdale Vegetables and the Broward Food Cooperative at their meeting today from noon to 2 p.m. at the Florida Department of Health in Broward County (780 SW 24th. Street, Fort Lauderdale). Meet and talk with local processors and buyers in all food and farming related industries, from composte makers to seedling growers to investors. The Cooperative's mission is to "build and support locally based, self-reliant food economies - one in which sustainable food production, processing, distribution, and consumption is integrated to enhance the economic, environmental and social health of Broward County."
Wednesday
New Networking for the New Year
Is one of your resolutions to be a better networker to help grow your career savvy? (Or is it just to get more complimentary drinks and apps?) Either way this event is for you. Head over to SoLita in Delray Beach at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for Fast Blink's first networking event of the new year, New Networking for the New Year. The event is free and their will be happy hour specials in addition to the complimentary cocktail and select appetizers.
Cigar City & Terrapin Beer Co. Tap Takeover
Join the crew at Kapow! Noodle Bar on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. as they welcome Cigar City Brewing for a Tap Takeover. In addition to other brews and accompanying small plates, they'll be featuring Southern Slice, a collaborative beer produced by Cigar City and Terrapin Beer Co., "two innovative breweries from the deep South."
Southern Slice is a limited edition lager made with vanilla bean and pecans. There will only be two kegs on all of South Florida and one will be tapped at Kapow! on Wednesday. Don't miss it.
Thursday
Art After Dark
Thursday night is a primer for the weekend, and there's no better way to prepare for the end of the workweek than Art After Dark, one of Norton Museum's most popular programs. Where "culture and entertainment meet," Art After Dark is a diverse collection of art, including film, dance, music, DIY projects, winetastings, lectures, and fine dining from 5 to 9 p.m. every Thursday. Admission is half-price on Thursdays, normally $12 for adults, $5 for students, and free for members and children under 12 every day. Food and beverages are served from the museum's café, Fratelli Lyon, which offers an à la carte dinner menu from 5 to 8:30 p.m. -- By Dave Minsky
Founders Brewing Night
The guys at Laser Wolf will be filling pint glasses with Founders Brewing beers starting at 5 p.m. until they run out. Beers on draft will include Sweet Repute, IMperial Stout, Nitro Dry Hopped Pale ale, Backwoods Bastard, Boylr Maykr, Dirty Bastard, and All Day IPA.
