IKEA Hosts Annual Swedish Easter Smorgasbord

When you think of Easter, you probably think of a giant bunny hiding colorful eggs, followed by a big ham dinner... unless you're Swedish. Then you're picturing a table overflowing with herring and meatballs.

IKEA, the giant blue-and-yellow warehouse filled with impossible-to-assemble/impossible-to-pronounce furniture, is hosting its annual Swedish Easter Smorgasbord this Friday, March 22, and the menu is pretty expansive... and awesome.

The all-you-can-eat event is based on a traditional Påskbord dinner and includes a selection of different herrings, smoked salmon, dill potatoes, strudel, ham, Swedish meatballs, lingonberry preserves, potatoes au gratin, breads, desserts, and salmon fillets.

There are multiple seating times, starting at 4:30 p.m. You must reserve in advance either in person at the IKEA restaurant or by calling 954-838-9282, ext. 1203. The price is $12.99 for adults, $4.99 for children 12 and under. IKEA family members pay just $9.99 for adults, $2.49 for kids 12 and under.

If you want to celebrate at home Swedish-style, the IKEA food market offers a special do-it-yourself Easter Påskbord dinner for $24.99. The kit includes two jars of herring, a package of salmon, horseradish sauce, semihard cheese, multigrain crisp breads, and lingonberry jam in a special Easter bag.

Now all that's left is to pop open the champagne and celebrate:
