Yet another new brewery is headed for Boynton Beach.

Founded by South Florida native Chip Breighner, Devour Brewing Co. will be one of the city's first nano breweries -- what is becoming an increasingly popular segment of the craft brewing world in which production output is intentionally kept very small.

Nano breweries typically don't brew more than one batch at a time, and rather than have a desire to see their beer served at bars across the country, they often take a more local approach to distribution.

For Breighner, a former events coordinator for Brown Distributing, it means Devour Brewing Co. will begin by producing hyperlocal specialty brews just 30 gallons at a time -- or about one barrel -- for a variety of styles including his Vanilla Chamomile Agave wheat, Orange Coriander pale ale, Chocolate Coconut porter, and Paradise saison.

"The system I want to have in place will give me a lot of room for creativity," said Breighner in a recent interview. "I'll be brewing everything from wheat beers to imperial stouts and making such limited amounts it will give me the freedom to experiment and use different ingredients."

A Lake Worth resident, Breighner has been homebrewing for the past seven years. He made the decision to open a nano brewery after visiting a number of similar, small-scale beer production facilities, including several in North Florida and Colorado.

Breighner has already secured a location for Devour Brewing Co., which is named after he and wife Trish's favorite Shinedown song. The 2,600-square-foot space is located at 1500 SW 30th Ave. in Boynton Beach and is already fitted with most of the necessary brewing equipment, including handmade brew kettles, kegs, and refrigeration.

A helping hand will get things moving faster, however. Although Breighner hopes to have Devour up and running by early December, he's implemented a Kickstarter campaign to raise $10,000. The funds will be used to purchase additional brewing equipment and to assist with preliminary overhead and tap-room build-out costs.

"The city is welcoming all kinds of breweries, and I'm excited to be a part of it," adds Breighner, who said he chose the warehouse location in Boynton Beach to support the city's growing craft beer scene. "But right now, I'll be limited as to how much beer I can produce. With more money, I can make more beer. That's what this Kickstarter is all about."
