Are you ready for barbecue? What about some beer? Even if you don't care about any of the myriad celebratory offerings this weekend, you're going to have to eat something.
We perused the highs and lows of the Broward-Palm Beach area and cooked up this tasty menu of awesome destinations. Whether you're looking to walk around and consume copious drinks, find inner peace with some yoga and brews, indulge in some high-end chef prepared fare or just eat or drink for free, this list has everything you need.

5. Om Brew Yoga
Get your workout and your drinking session in all in one fell swoop. Funky Buddha Brewery is hosting Om Brew Yoga on Sunday at 11 a.m. with Shelah Davis. The cost to attend is $15, which includes the class and a beer.
4. Whole Foods Market And Sunshine State Pils Tasting
While we're all into the maple bacon sweet potato curry lime brews these days, we also like a good old fashioned pilsner. It's like a nice clean refresher for your palate. Sample some Florida renditions of the classic Czech style of beer at Whole Foods Market in Boca Raton on Saturday. From 2 to 4 p.m., the store will be handing out tastings sunshine state pilsners.
3. BBQ Friday
There's nothing better than chilling out at a barbecue after a long hard week of work. On Friday night at 6 p.m., C&I Studios is hosting a free barbecue with burgers, hot dogs, and corn. Beer and cocktails are available for purchase. It will be hosting a songwriters night after the grilling is done.
2. Funky Buddha One-Year Anniversary
No matter what age or type, birthdays tend to be celebrated much the same, with beer. We're not saying a 1-year-old should be drinking on the day that commemorates his first year of life. But the grownups are probably going to throw back a brew or two, at least -- hey, malted bevies have been a celebratory thing since the dawn of time. While we're all right with using any occasion to drink, when one of our favorite breweries hits its first anniversary, it's time to party. On Saturday, Funky Buddha Brewery is turning 1, and it's hosting an all-day festival to celebrate.
Starting at noon and ending at 10 p.m., the brewery is closing down the block to invite all of its fans. Live music starts at 1 p.m., with bands like Short Straw Pickers, Lather Up!, Sawgrass Express, and Ketchy Shuby. Several food trucks will provide fun fare and pairings, including Palate Party Outside the Box Sandwich Co., Pescados Unidos, Flour Power, and Diablo Dogs. Multiple live art and design installations are being featured. Tons of special brews will be on tap, such as Crusher Session IPA Amarillo, Red Velvet Cake Ale, Vanilla Cream Abdul Jabbar Nitro, Don't Tell Reece Peanut Butter Cup Ale, and the Fluffer (Fluffer Nutter Ale).
1. The OBIEs - A Taste of South Florida
Chefs have become the new heartthrobs of America. And let's be honest: It's a much smarter crush than actors or musicians. We all need to eat, and as much as we might enjoy them, we don't need movies or music to survive. Just sayin'. On Friday, your chance is here to hang out -- and drool -- over local and national celebrity chefs. The OBIES, a Taste of South Florida, is bringing top chefs together to raise money for charity.
Taking place at the Broward County Convention Center from 7 to 10 p.m., the event will feature amazing food, great drinks, live entertainment, and a chance to give back. Attending chefs include James Beard inductee Norman Van Aken, Top Chef's Fabio Viviani and Howie "Bulldog" Kleinberg, Hell's Kitchen contestant Ralph Pagano, Steve Martin of Harry's Pizzeria, Hedy Goldsmith from Michael's Genuine, and 1826 Restaurant's Danny Grant. Several local restaurants will also be attending. As part of the festivities, the evening includes a contest for Best Chef/Restaurant, which will be determined by attendees. Guest judges and members of the media will vote for Best Miami-Dade Restaurant, Best Broward Restaurant, and overall "Flavor South Florida" winner. Paul Castronovo will emcee the event. The cost to attend is $85 per person.
