This year has been a big one for food combinations. First, it was the cronut, invented by pastry chef Dominique Ansel at his New York bakery.
The croissant/donut hybrid made its way down to South Florida in the form of Master Cake Bakery's "dossants" -- the term cronut has been trademarked.
Now comes the ramen burger. As the title implies, it consists of a burger sandwiched between two ramen noodle buns -- essentially, it's your entire college diet in convenient easy-to-hold package.
The new combo dish is now available at Kapow! Noodle Bar in Boca Raton.

Brooklynite Keizo Shimamoto came up with the concept after discovering a similar idea while visiting Japan; he started selling them about a month ago every Saturday at Brooklyn's Smorgasburg food market.
Like its hybrid predecessor, the cronut, it draws crowds of people looking to get a bite starting at 7:30 a.m. -- they usually sell out by 4 p.m.
Luckily, you need not fly to New York, take the train out to Brooklyn, and wait online first thing in the morning to taste it. Now, you can get them right here.
"We are always looking for new ideas and trends to highlight at Kapow and when we heard about 'The Ramen Burger', it was a no brainer," said Kapow partner Vaughan Dugan. "It fits our concept perfectly! Our version is made with our 8 ounce burger -- which in and of itself is an award winner -- perfectly pillowed in-between two ramen 'buns' with kimchi slaw and a Sriracha aioli. We also top it with a fried egg upon request."
The burgers debuted at Kapow on Friday. They are now available for lunch and dinner.
