5. Community cookout

You've got the sitter lined up for Saturday night so you can ditch the kiddies for a few hours and hit the town like a real grownup. Before that, squeeze in a little family time at a kid-friendly community cookout from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the YMCA of South Palm Beach County (6631 Palmetto Circle South in Boca Raton). The Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event, which will include picnic-ready foods like hot dogs, chicken, hamburgers, fruit, and veggies. There will be musical entertainment, slides, and bounce houses to keep the little ones occupied. Admission is $5 and includes one food ticket. Kids younger than 10 get in free. Register online and pay at the door.

4. Galt Mile Wine & Food Festival

Adding to the never-ending supply of food and wine fests (not that we're complaining) is the first-ever Galt Mile Wine & Food Festival planned for 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Participating restaurants include Cafe Vico, da Campo Osteria, Texas de Brazil, Tokyo Blue, and others. The event will be hosted at the Galt Ocean Mile Shoppes. Admission is $40 to $70.

3. Food in Motion Market

Finally, a South Florida craft fair with a focus on crafty food. The Food in Motion Market will feature food trucks and greenmarket vendors and the kicker: free beer. The endeavor is the creation of the same folks behind popular events like City-Wide, Night Owl Market, and the Indie Craft Bazaar. Curious? Check it out at 5 p.m. Friday at the War Memorial Auditorium and Holiday Park in Fort Lauderdale. Admission and parking are free.
