On Tuesday, May 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. all local participating Häagen-Dazs shops will be giving one free ice cream cone per customer. Why? Because Tuesdays are terrible, and ice cream is awesome, and don't you deserve a free cone?
“Spring is a season that celebrates all things fresh and new. In 2015, Häagen-Dazs Shops celebrated its first new shops’ design in eight years and the launch of its much anticipated Artisan collection,” says Dawn Uremovich, president of the Häagen-Dazs Shoppe Co. “Last year, we served over 280,000 scoops on Free Cone Day, and this year we are excited to help even more people leave the dreary days of winter behind with a scoop of their favorite flavor, or maybe discover a new one.”
Choose from traditional ice cream, fruity sorbet, or exotic gelato. This year, Häagen-Dazs has two new flavors on offer: Banana Rum Jam and Chocolate Caramelized Oat Ice Cream. Both are part of the new Häagen-Dazs Artisan Collection. (That means the calories don't count, right? Let's go with that.)
According to Häagen-Dazs:
These special new flavors are part of an exciting collaboration that highlights the work of local food artisans from across the U.S. Jessica Quon and Sabrina Valle of Brooklyn’s The Jam Stand brought together unexpected flavors that helped create Banana Rum Jam while San Francisco’s Claire Keane of Clairessquares used a taste of Irish heritage to inspire what has become Chocolate Caramelized Oat Ice Cream.
And because this is 2015, no free ice cream cone day celebration would be complete without a social networking component. Join the Häagen-Dazs virtual ice cream social on Twitter with the hashtag #HDfreeconeday.
And, of course, no socially networked virtual ice cream social with its very own hashtag would be complete without the chance to win something. In this case, it's American Express gift cards, a Häagen-Dazs gift card redeemable for free ice cream for a year at participating Häagen-Dazs Shops, or various coupons for Häagen-Dazs redeemable at retailers nationwide.
