Fifth Annual Deerfield Beach Wine and Food Festival Returns May 30

Food Festival season isn't over yet. This weekend, the fifth annual Deerfield Beach Wine & Food Festival will return to Quiet Waters Park, and this year's event boasts a number of new features.

As always, the annual food festival will bring event-goers face-to-face  with dozens of local purveyors, restaurants, food trucks, private caterers, food product creators, and more. This year, however, the event will also offer a special kids-only zone. 

For the first time, the Deerfield Beach Wine & Food Festival is gearing up to be a family "fun day" with a number of family-friendly events planned as part of the grand tasting culinary celebration. No longer just for adults, kid-related activities will include a bounce house, sand box art, face painting, pony rides, exhibits from the Boca Raton Children's Museum, and nonalcoholic beverages. On Saturday, May 30, expect to find everything from authentic Cape Cod-style lobster rolls or Caribbean fusion food trucks, to wood-fired pizza and Brazilian and Argentinian fare. Tastings are $2 to $10 each, and the festival also features a number of craft beers, specialty wines, and creative beverages prepared specifically for non-drinking adults. 

The festival also boasts a retail shopping bazaar with more than 50 hand-picked vendors. Another new features this year: thanks to a partnerships with WineEvents.com, guests will have the opportunity to taste wines during the festival and then purchase them on their way out at the pavilion at the festival's on-site wine store. Guests can also purchase wine directly on the WineEvents website and have it shipped to their home or office (in South Florida). 

Warning: You might get a cuteness overload watching part of the festival's 2015 music lineup. Krush, a pre-teen, classic rock band, will be headlining the event. The group of grade-school-aged rockers began playing together in December 2013. Krush is the work of Brad and Laurie Rothschild — parents of lead guitarist Nicholas Rothschild — who experienced frustration trying to help their son find similarly talented musicians to play with. The couple handpicked each Krush member with the hopes of forming a better band, better sound. Other musical acts will include Chucka Riddim, Voodoo Possum, and Groove Line. 

The Deerfield Beach Wine & Food Festival will take place at Quiet Waters Park on Saturday, May 30 from 1 to 9 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale for $15 per person ($7 for children, and free for those 5 and under). Day-of tickets cost $25 per person. Visit deerfieldbeachwineandfoodfestival.com.
