Just in case you're still craving more burger battles, National Hamburger Month isn't over yet.
As a kind of grand finale, the fifth-annual Burger Beast National Hamburger Month Food Truck Competition will take place Sunday, May 31, at the Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach. During the event, dozens of food trucks from across Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties will compete for the 2015 title of National Hamburger Month Best Food Truck Burger.
From noon to 4 p.m., guests will be able to taste their way through more than a dozen food trucks — each offering its regular menu in addition to a specialty burger — as they vie for the title. This year, the food truck competition lineup includes Arepas Las Gorditas, Cheeseburger Baby, Da Burger Shack, HipPOPs Handcrafted Gelato Bars, Ipek’s Wykked Kitchen, Jersey Dawg, King of Racks BBQ, Liquid N2 Ice Cream, Monster Burgers, Mr. Good Stuff, Munchie’s Snack Shack, MV My Food Truck, Palate Party, Paradise Cups, Wholesome Rollers, and Woodys Burgers.
The food trucks won't be the only ones getting in on the competitive action, however. New to the 2015 event, an inaugural Hamburger Slider "Square Off" sponsored by Krystal (901 W. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) will let burger lovers show their stuff. From 1 to 3 p.m., guests who've signed on to compete in the Square Off will have a chance to vie for the title of the Top Burger Beast, a $1,000 cash prize, and a trophy for consuming the most hamburger sliders.
To participate in the Hamburger Slider Square Off, willing participants must visit the Mardi Gras Casino Players’ Club through May 29 to fill out a participation agreement and pay the $10 entry fee.
