Where to Get 64-Ounce Growlers in Broward and Palm Beach Counties

The time has come, Florida, for freedom. Sixty-four ounces of freedom, to be precise. July 1 marks the day local brewers and beer lovers have been foaming at the mouth for: the legalization of 64-ounce growlers.

Finally, after years of fighting and legal wrangling, Florida breweries can stand equal to others across the country with the passing of legislation that allows breweries to sell beer by the industry standard 64-ounce container. Starting today, it is now legal for Floridians to lug 64 ounces — or two quarts, four pints, eight cups, or 128 tablespoons — worth of beer from any brewery back home.

Prior to July 1, 2015, Florida craft brewers could sell beer for home consumption only in 32- or 128-ounce growlers, limiting them from the sale of industry-standard 64-ounce containers available across 47 other states.

64-Ounces of Freedom at Saltwater Brewing
Starting July 1 at noon Saltwater Brewery in Delray Beach will be offering a special release event lasting all day. The first 64 customers to purchase a 64-ounce growler and have it filled with today's special release — 64 oz To Freedom — will receive a limited edition "64 oz to Freedom" labeled growler. Beers available for fills include a black rye IPA collaboration with Terrapin Beer, and a new summer release dubbed Tides of the Reefroom — a Belgian-style white session IPA. Be sure to hashtag #FL64 today on all of your photos, and get ready for a state-wide toast at 6:40 p.m. 

64th of July at Funky Buddha Brewery
Forget July 1. From now on, Floridians will think of this day as July 64th. Come noon, Funky Buddha Brewery will be celebrating the new legal growler size with a host of special $11 for 64-ounce growler fills on flagship brews including Hop Gun, Floridian, Doc Brown, On Top Blonde, Fuhgeddaboudit Red, and Crusher. You can also find specialty releases (prices vary) on More Moro Blood Orange IPA, Raspberry Blonde ale, Fire In The Hole, Big Guava Jelly Blonde, and French Toast Double Brown. The brewery will also be selling special release growler goodie bags for $26 that include Funky Buddha sunglasses, Apple pie popcorn, a 64-ounce growler, Funky Buddha bottle opener, red growler tote bag, and Funky Buddha koozie. The brewery will also host Sidecar Kitchen and Mr. PB&J food trucks, and live music by Crazy Fingers will be playing from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Specialty Release and Growler Fill at Copperpoint Brewing Co.
There might be no better way to celebrate the tapping of a special — and extremely limited — brew other than releasing it on Florida's July 1 64-ounce growler day. At least, that's what the guys over at Copperpoint Brewing Co. in Boynton Beach thought. They only have one keg of their Impala Mango Lager, and it will most likely be gone by the end of today, as it's available for 64-ounce growler fills at the brewery starting at noon. If this beer is a favorite, make Copperpoint the first stop on your growler go-to list. The brewery will also have a number of regular rotation brews available for growler fills. Update: The Impala Mango has been replaced with a Key Lime Pilsner.

Growler Day at Due South Brewing
Join Boynton Beach's Due South Brewing July 1 as they celebrate the first day of legal 64-ounce growler fills in the state of Florida. Buy or bring a 64-ounce Due South-branded stainless steel growler today and receive 15 percent off the fill (this discount only applies to beer in 64-ounce Due South growlers) available for sale in the tasting room for $29.99 each. Have your own? As long as your growler is clean and clearly marked as a legal size, they'll fill it. Beers on tap and available for 64-ounce fills include Midnight Marauder Black IPA, Mexican Standoff, Asylum Harbor Read Ale, Mr. Crowley Barleywine, Caramel Cream Ale, Category 3 IPA, and more. BC Tacos will be out front from 5 to 10 p.m. to help us celebrate.

Legalize It: 64-Ounce Growler Release at Brewhouse Gallery
As of 1 p.m. today, Brewhouse Gallery in Lake Park will be hosting a special event to celebrate the long-awaited legalization. Not only can now purchase and fill 64-ounce growlers at breweries across the state, but also at Brewhouse Gallery, which features more than a dozen rotating taps of specialty craft brews. The beer bar has one of the largest growler fill selections in Palm Beach County. On July 1, find special pricing all day.

Growler Fills at Twisted Trunk Brewing
Now that 64-ounce growlers are finally legal, Twisted Trunk Brewing in Palm Beach Gardens is getting in on the action too. On July 1, buy two new 64-ounce growlers with a fill and you'll receive a free Twisted Trunk growler koozie. Want to trade in your old gallon growler? The brewery will give you a $4 credit towards a new half-gallon growler with a fill purchase.

Specialty 64-Ounce Growler Release at Tequesta Brewing Co.
Starting today at noon, 64-ounce growlers will be available for sale at Tequesta Brewing Co. The brewery is celebrating with a few specialty keg tappings, including their Double IPA with grapefruit zest and Honey Bock with cinnamon and apple. If you buy two new half-gallons growlers with a fill, you'll also get a free TBC growler koozie. Or bring in your old gallon growler and get a $3 credit towards the purchase of a new half-gallon growler and fill.
