Week in Music: The Voice Is Back, Drake Gives a Rare Interview, and More

So what if some old farmers wrote an "almanac" that's deemed summer officially over, and walking into your local grocery from now until Thanksgiving means being accosted by the overwhelming aroma of a thousand cinnamon broomsticks?

If you're a denialist like me, you've likely spent a good chunk of time this week staring at a pile of crop tops on your bedroom floor, watching the thunderstorms rolls in day after day, wondering what it all means. Seasons change, time moves forward — at least, we South Floridians have to believe this is true to fit in with the rest of society.

It's not all bad news, though!

The dawn of fall breathes new life into some of our most beloved pastimes. Fall television is back (here's hoping you binge-watched enough Netflix to get caught up), and, best of all if you're a fellow music lover (and I bet you are if you're reading this!), we can finally look forward to an abundance of fresh fall tours, album drops, and other musical gifts sprinkled upon us now through the end of the year.

The Return of The Voice
You may be thinking to yourself, When did The Voice ever leave? I agree, it's an uncanny feeling year after year. And yet, it's hard not to get a little bit excited for the return of the Emmy-winning singing competition show, which kicked off its blind auditions for a ninth season on Monday.

Watch Kurt Vile Perform Two b’lieve Tracks On Conan
We are firm believers that indie shy guy Kurt Vile can do no wrong. His already acclaimed new album, b’lieve i’m goin down, just dropped today on Matador, and last night he stopped by Conan to give us a little sampling of some of its tracks. Yes, they are great. (via)

Earlier this week, Drake and Future dropped a much-hyped collabo mixtape, What A Time To Be Alive, on Apple Music. Now, fans are getting treated to a rare extended interview with the legend himself via a new cover story by Fader — the first since his 2014 interview with Rolling Stone resulted in his swearing off magazine interviews for good. Thanks for changing your mind, Drizzy. (via)

Fetty Wap and the Appropriation of Everything But the Burden
So, the above video happened (sorry in advance). Right... Next, as Pitchfork is wont to do, Pitchfork came out with this think piece on the sad, sad video, which does make for an interesting, if further saddening, read. By the way, if you're a fan of the real Fetty, you can now, as of yesterday, stream the breakout summer star's debut self-titled album in full via NPR's "First Listen." 

Bob Dylan Announces The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12
Surprise! Bob Dylan is releasing another edition of his Bootleg Series anthologies. Announced this week for a 11/6 release, this latest contribution to the artist's apparently infinite catalogue will contain "outtakes, rehearsal tracks, and of course, the elusive alternative version of tracks off Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and Blonde On Blonde."
