New West Palm Beach Food Tours Launches in Palm Beach County

Ever have that conversation with your friend or significant other where you bat the question, "I dunno, what do you want to eat?" back and forth like a ping-pong ball until you both give up and order a pizza? If you have a hard time settling on one restaurant at which to eat dinner, then don't. 

The aptly named West Palm Beach Food Tours highlights six local restaurants for a three-­hour walking tour that includes tastings of both food and drinks.

According to Kristl Story, founder and CEO of West Palm Beach Food Tours — which quietly launched on September 1 — the original vision was to create an experience that both visitors and locals could enjoy.

"I wanted to bring an experience to West Palm Beach that allows everyone to hear the story of the wonderful architecture, history, lifestyle, and culture of the city — and, of course — enjoy the food and drinks from our local restaurant partners," said Story. "So much of a neighborhood and city's story can be told through food. Our city and restaurants have graciously embraced the concept and we hope to grow the tour for many years to come."

West Palm Beach Food Tours are offered Wednesday through Saturday starting at 11 a.m. and are suited for most ages and fitness levels. In total, the tour includes a leisurely stroll — about a mile long — throughout the downtown West Palm Beach area, including the waterfront at Flagler Drive.

Restaurant stops include the Blind Monk, Longboards, Palm Beach Hibiscus, Ganache Bakery Café, Le Rendez­-Vous, and Pizza Girls.

A wide variety of samplings feature a prosecco mojito, ahi tuna tostada, pan con tomate, coxinha, pao de queijo, fresh coconut water, key lime pie, New York-style pizza, Funky Buddha Floridian beer, apple croustade a la mode, Brazilian cheese breads, and more.

Local businesses are supportive of the new tour and have high hopes for its success.

"We are very excited to be a stop on West Palm Beach Food Tours," said Jen Morales, co-­owner of Pizza Girls. "I love the idea of combining the stories of restaurants like ours with the history of the downtown area. These stories are an integral part of the city and you get a sampling of the best restaurants at the same time. This is a fantastic addition to West Palm Beach."

Tickets can be purchased online at WestPalmBeachFoodTour.com, priced $65 for adults ($45 for children ages 12 and under). Attendees must purchase tickets by 9 a.m. the day of the tour. Guests should wear weather appropriate clothes and comfortable shoes. The tour runs rain or shine and also provides an all-­inclusive guide with additional recreational activities and tours, tips for local restaurants to try, and coupons for the restaurant partners of the tour. Private tours are also available.
