The Garth Brooks World Tour
From an eight-year retirement to a five-year Vegas residency to the release of a new album and accompanying world tour, Garth Brooks continues to be — and has always been — one of country's top-selling solo artists. And this week, the Man Against [the] Machine will be taking over the BB&T Center for three nights straight as he brings his first tour in 13 years to South Florida.

With Trisha Yearwood. Sponsored by GhostTunes. Thursday, January 14, 7:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, January 15 and 16, 7 p.m. BB&T Center, 1 Panther Pkwy., Sunrise; 954-835-8000; thebbtcenter.com. Tickets cost $64.48 plus fees via ticketmaster.com.

SunGhosts
SunGhosts may be Miami's best band, but their fan base reaches beyond the city limits. From the 305 to the 954, the local garage rockers will hit up Jump the Shark in celebration of the release of their latest EP, Parhelion, which was recorded in both Davie and Miami last summer. "We wanted this EP to be an appetizer before we release the full-length album," singer/guitarist Nik Balseiro told our sister paper Miami New Times. Get a taste of what's to come during the band's JTS show on Thursday.

With Mantra Love and Peyote Coyote. Thursday, January 14, 8 p.m. Jump the Shark, 810 NE Fourth Ave., Fort Lauderdale; facebook.com/jumpthesharkevents. All ages.

Kristin Chenoweth
Kristin Chenoweth is as perky and hilarious as she is überly popular. Having taken on various roles from Wicked and The Muppets Show on ABC, Chenoweth will play the role of headliner as she performs a mix of her favorite songs — Broadway showtunes, pop standards, and music from her latest album, Coming Home — during her upcoming gig at the Broward Center.

Thursday, January 14, 8 p.m. Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center, 201 SW Fifth Ave., Fort Lauderdale; 954-462-0222; browardcenter.org. Tickets cost $30 to $125 plus fees via ticketmaster.com.

Reverend Horton Heat
You better bring your appetite to Culture Room this week, because Reverend Horton Heat's gonna "Teach You How to Eat." Coming from the "godfather of modern rockabilly and psychobilly," this will be one lesson you won't want to miss.

With Unknown Hinson, Nashville Pussy, and Igor & the Red Elvises. Friday, January 15, 7:30 p.m. Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale; 954-564-1074; cultureroom.net. Tickets cost $22 plus fees via ticketmaster.com.

Ani DiFranco
"Edgy, outspoken, and hugely influential," Ani DiFranco, as pointed out by New Times, "remains the inherent insurgent, railing against the mainstream while others are merely wailing, taking relentless aim at issues surrounding sex, politics, and modern culture." And more than 20 albums and years later, DiFranco is still the Righteous Babe she set out to be.

With Hamell on Trial. Saturday, January 16, 8 p.m. Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale; 954-564-1074; cultureroom.net. Tickets cost $25 plus fees via ticketmaster.com.

2016 South Florida Folk Fest
The new year always calls for some good folk music. And the 2016 South Florida Folk Fest will be bringing you two days' worth of roots, Americana, blues, and, well, folk music from Spuyten Duyvil, Zoe Lewis, the Kennedys, and a handful of others. Performances aside, there will also be a songwriting competition, workshops, a jam area, and a fire circle.

With Spuyten Duyvil, Zoe Lewis, the Kennedys, No Fuss and Feathers, and others. Saturday, January 16, 11:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. and Sunday, January 17, noon to 8:15 p.m. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, 3109 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale; 954-564-4521; floridastateparks.org/park/Hugh-Taylor-Birch. Tickets cost $40 to $75 plus fees via southfloridafolkfest.net.

Kottonmouth Kings
"Pump Up da Bass" with Kottonmouth Kings. As High Times magazine's 2006 "Stoner Band of the Year" and two-time guest judges at Amsterdam's Cannabis Cup, these "psychedelic hip-hop punk rockers" will have you high — off their beats, of course — all night.

With Marlon Asher and Chucky Chuck. Saturday, January 16, 7 p.m. Revolution Live, 100 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale; 954-449-1025; jointherevolution.net. Tickets cost $16.50 plus fees via ticketmaster.com.

Sunshine Music Festival
Experience the Suwanee of the South as the blues and grassrootscentric musical gathering of the Sunshine Music Festival takes over Mizner Park Amphitheater. Headlined by the Tedeschi Trucks Band, this year’s roster will also include Indigo Girls, Trombone Shorty, the Jerry Douglas Band, Jorma Kaukonen, Hard Working Americans, Joanne Shaw Taylor, and other Americana-inspired rock and folk groups.

With the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Indigo Girls, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Hard Working Americans, the Revivalists, Jorma Kaukonen, Jerry Douglas, Bobby Lee Rodgers, and Joanne Shaw Taylor. Mizner Park Amphitheater, Sunday, January 17, 11 a.m. 590 Plaza Real, Boca Raton; 561-544-8600; mizneramphitheater.com. Tickets cost $49 to $99 plus fees via ticketmaster.com.
