"If you’re truly serious about Florida’s economic well-being, it’s time to stop the silly political stunts and start doing something about climate change – two words you won’t even let state officials say," Brown said in an open letter.
On her video, Jennings chimed in, saying, "He's using our taxpayer dollars to attack the entire state of California about their choice to increase the minimum wage to a living wage. Apparently, he thinks that people in California should abandon their fair-paying jobs and move to Florida, where half our residents don't make enough to even cover basic necessities."
Though Jennings has always been a prominent left-wing voice in South Florida, she rose to viral fame after ambushing Scott in a Gainesville Starbucks on April 5. "You're an asshole!" she shouted, continuing to attack Scott for yanking Medicaid away from poor people as Scott nervously scurried out of the coffee shop, careful not to let any of his Cthulhu-like tentacles fall from his pant legs.
In a jaw-dropping move even by Rick Scott standards, Scott's political-action committee then launched a YouTube attack campaign against Jennings, saying she "clearly has problems," attacking her for her refusal to say the Pledge of Allegiance, and then assuring the rest of the state that "pretty much everyone" in Florida has a good job.
Not so, Jennings says.
"Scott loves to brag about all the jobs he's created, but what he doesn't tell you is that about half the households in Florida make less than what they did 30 years ago," she said yesterday, over a battle-ready drumbeat.
She then begged California for help stopping our dear governor.
"So California, do Florida a favor," she said. "Keep a lookout for Scott at your local coffee shops, and if you see him, let him know that everybody deserves a living wage."
Lastly, she implored Californians to call Scott an asshole on our behalf.
